今日は比較の表現について勉強しましょう。1回目は全体像を見ていきます。原級・比較級・最上級を一気に学びましょう。
比較①（原級・比較級・最上級の基本）
Point ① 原級：as ～ as
【 as 原級 as 】で「～と同じくらい～」という意味になります。
否定文は「～ほど～ない」という意味になります。
例文：I am as tall as him.（私は彼と同じくらい背が高い）
※本教材では、as / than の後ろにくる代名詞は「目的格（him, her, meなど）」を原則としています。
1. 次の文を日本語にしなさい。
① This man is as kind as my brother.
こちらの男性は私の兄と同じくらい親切です。
② Emi looks as happy as him.
エミは彼と同じくらい幸せそうに見える。
③ This dictionary is as useful as that one.
この辞書はあの辞書と同じくらい役に立つ。
④ This pen isn’t as long as that one.
このペンはあのペンほど長くない。
2. ( )内の語句を加え、全文を書きかえなさい。
① He is busy. (私と同じくらい)
He is as busy as me.
② I have to get up early. (私の母と同じくらい)
I have to get up as early as my mother.
③ I am not tall. (あなたほど)
I am not as tall as you.
④ Tom can’t run fast. (私ほど)
Tom can’t run as fast as me.
3. 英作文しなさい。
① 彼は私と同じくらい忙しいです。
He is as busy as me.
② 私はベス(Beth)と同じくらい速く泳げます。
I can swim as fast as Beth.
③ この絵はあの絵と同じくらい美しいです。
This picture is as beautiful as that one.
④ この質問はあの質問ほど簡単ではない。
This question isn’t as easy as that one.
⑤ 私たちは彼女ほど上手く英語を話せない。
We can’t speak English as well as her.
Point ② 比較級：比較級 than
【 比較級 than 】で「～よりも～」という意味になります。
例文：I am taller than him.（私は彼よりも背が高い）

Point ③ 最上級：the＋最上級 in/of
【 the＋最上級 】で「～の中で 最も/一番 ……だ」という意味になります。
例文：I am the tallest in my class.（私はクラスの中で一番背が高い）
